Position Overview

Events Manager

We are seeking an exceptional and experienced individual who is passionate about our mission and who has a track record of success in fundraising events and growing successful relationships with donors. The Events Manager must be a self-starter and able to work independently and as a member of a collaborative team. The selected candidate will have experience meeting critical deadlines and delivering both short and long-term outcomes. The Events Manager must be adept at developing relationships with internal and external contacts of the organization and must also be able to motivate people to action. 

Illinois Team
  • Develops a working knowledge of strategic initiatives, and funding priorities for Boys Hope Girls Hope Illinois affiliate, promoting mission to the community.  
  • Oversees all event visioning, design, execution, and vendor relations for all fundraising events.  
  • Plans and executes a marketing strategy to support events including use of website and social media, as well as traditional media vehicles.  
  • Sets and maintains revenue and expense budgets for all events in conjunction with the President and BHGH Women’s Board.  
  • Manages scheduling, costs and usage of event locations, and vendors, working within the allocated budget  
  • Delivers seamless logistics and follow-up communications  
  • Manages all event logistics from beginning to end, develops and identifies event theme, honoree(s), guest speaker(s), manages guest lists and check-in, oversees event staff and volunteers, constructs, executes run of show, ensures proper use of sponsor logos, and coordinates post-event follow-up  
  • Assists with negotiations for space contracts and books event space; secures and manages all vendors including AV, décor, caterer, photographer, and printer  
  • Drafts all necessary outreach solicitation letters and helps write and assemble materials for event program and event website  
  • Organizes and manages the mailing of invitations, ensuring all deadlines are met, and works with the Development team to ensure mailing lists and any personalization is accurate and all invitations are assembled correctly  
  • Manages Contribution Report, keeping track of all RSVPs, donations, and pledges as they are received  

Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in a related field and several years of experience in event management and fundraising, ideally working at a non-profit organization.

In addition to the above required qualifications, a special interests will be placed on candidates who have proven experience with the following:

  • Experience in creating and managing successful events
  • Advanced use of event management software
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to manage key processes, staff, and volunteers to execute event functions at all levels
  • Ability to effectively and seamlessly collaborate with team members, volunteers, board members, scholars, family members, and the community at large
  • Acts as a role model for integrity, ethical behavior, and fiscal responsibility in support of Boys Hope Girls Hope
