Brijhette was raised by an elderly and loving aunt who deeply believed in the power of education. When she and her aunt
learned of BHGH STL through a former teacher, they knew it would offer life-changing opportunities and would be worth the
sacrifice of living apart. Brijhette joined Girls Hope at age 11. As her aunt’s health failed, the staff and volunteers at BHGH
STL continued to surround both of them as a network of love and support. Brijhette worked hard to grow academically,
spiritually, and emotionally. She thrived. After graduating with honors from Nerinx Hall High School, she went on to Webster
University, earning her double bachelor’s in pre-architecture and German in three years. In 2014, Brijhette obtained her
master’s degree in architecture, with emphases on inclusive design and earthquake engineering. She has been an
outspoken advocate for the program’s commitment to equipping youth to achieve their dreams and become persons for
others. Brijhette aspires to work as a structural engineer to help reduce the impacts of natural disasters in impoverished
regions around the globe.
