In an earlier edition of the Voice of HOPE, we reported on the Community Service project of the scholars of Esperanza Juvenil, our Guatemalan Affiliate: the commencement of the building of a school in the remote mountain regions of Guatemala. In this edition, we are proud to report that the school has been completed—and is already changing the lives of the children of that region. The new school is located in the town of San Jose las Vegas, a small village in Guatemala’s westernmost province of Momostenango. The village is in one of the most inaccessible regions of the country, in a mountainous region of thick rain forests, and seven hours away from the provincial capital by bus.
